Las Vegas – A statewide poll of 877 likely voters in Nevada showed that Nevadan’s prefer Brian Sandoval to replace outgoing senator Harry Reid. Governor Sandoval has not indicated his intentions for 2016, publicly stating that his only focus is on governing.
In a crowded field, the top Democratic candidates are (D-NV 1st District) Dina Titus, followed by Harry Reid’s personal preferred replacement former Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto and third former Secretary of State Ross Miller.
If Governor Sandoval does not seek the office the early Republican favorites are Lt. Governor Mark Hutchison followed by Attorney General Adam Laxalt. Mark Hutchison received 4% first choice support and 11% second choice support, while Laxalt received 4% and 6% respectively.
Other candidates listed were Lucy Flores and Michael Roberson each receiving 1%, while nearly a quarter of those surveyed were undecided or their preference was not listed.
The survey was completed by touch tone IVR response Wednesday evening from a representative sample of like voters for the 2016 General Election.
